“For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; Lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.”
Psalm 125:3 KJV
A time of warfare is not a time to be casual with sin. Yes truly it is by the mercies of God we have not been consumed. Mercy and grace abounds however , if the matter of sin and iniquity, is not cured by genuine repentance, it grants the enemy access and opens up portals of old agreements and gateways into the life of an individual.
Beloved longstanding issues may not always be a matter of sin and iniquity, however righteousness is a weapon. Righteousness not as occasioned by man but by the finished works of Christ. If we continue in our sin, the Bible confirms there remains no sacrifice for sin (Hebrews 10:26). Beyond the factual knowledge of sin and iniquity, there is an access way we expose ourselves to, if we deal casually with the matter of sin and iniquity.
From the scripture study above, the rod or scepter as stated symbolizes authority. As believers we reign by righteousness as obtained through the office of the Christ (Hebrews 1:8). Hence there is a need to continue in the works of righteousness and not look back. Not only does the matter of sin and iniquity weaken the strength and potency of your prayer, but affects your spiritual stature. You cannot wield the stature and power it takes to conquer certain persistent issues when you continue to willfully engage in sin. Once again beloved righteousness is a weapon, where sin abounds and there is no true repentance, it affects the impact of our prayers.
Remember that the Bible commends that it is the effectual and fervent prayer of the righteous that avails much, James 5:16. We were born in sin and inquity (Psalm 51:5) , but when we do not establish an altar of righteousness after repentance, we permit the altar of iniquity and longstanding agreements to persist. Without true repentance and the renouncement of idolatry, adultery and ancient agreements, the consequences and patterns thereof still remain.
“For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses’ law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?”

We must stand firm in the liberty that Christ has won (Galatians 5:1). So then beloved, what is that habit you cannot get rid of or that sin that has kept you bound? Is there a pattern you have noted in your life, longstanding issues persisting from generation to generation? Can you recognize that gateway granting legal access? Tonight bring it before the throne of grace and man your gates. Raise an altar,after the ordinances of the Christ and exercise authority. You carry the DNA of Christ and sin shall not have dominion over you. Submit it and nail it to the cross. True freedom awaits!
