A leader is one who is first faithful in God’s house. A daring statement that is, does it mean that everyone faithful is a leader? Not quite, but one who is faithful in all of God’s house can be entrusted. A leader first proves himself to God and is approved of God before men. Because the true spirit of leadership is first built in the heart with a faithful posture.
There is a mandate given by God to men, and a need for men to arise to certain tasks as ordained by God. However, it will take a journey of discovery, a diligent walk with the dealings of God for one to be counted and found worthy of handling God’s business. There is a place for everyone, but unfortunately not everyone has come to that point where they can be entrusted. For many are called but few are chosen, and even the chosen must be deemed faithful.( Mathew 22:14 and Revelation 17:14)
On account of Moses, the Bible says he was found faithful in all of God’s house. A leader is not one who announces himself, but one who through their faithfulness to God, is seen as a testament and evidence of the deeds of God, is then anointed to fulfill His will to a people. In Exodus 14:31, the word confirms the people of Israel saw the great power the Lord exercised over Egypt and by so doing, they had reverence for God, believed in Him and in Moses His servant.
Now, Beloved pay attention to these words, Moses was first in service to God before he was to men. Many leaders today fall short in their delivery of service in their office because they are unfaithful in their service to God. There is a desire in man to dominate his environment, which is also part of our design as created by our Maker. However, where that inherent nature is not under submission, it leads to abuse. For the center of that nature is self. Hence there is a need for spiritually conscious leaders in our world today. Men and women who are first grounded in their faith and walk in diligent submission to God. For one who reverences God and walks faithfully before Him can be entrusted with delicate tasks, can be set over territories and then given charge over the souls of men.
So the question is posed, a faithful man who can find? Can you reveal God to your generation? Can you surrender self for the benefit of others? Leadership is more about surrender than dominion, for power built on that selfish inherent nature of man to dominate leads to corruption. But submission whereby power is wielded, learnt to develop upon the precepts from whom it is bestowed, exercises true leadership. Leadership is the true essence of every human being. But it takes leaders who have been tested and found worthy by God to make true impact. In every major biblical event we know of, it always took men and women in surrender and obedience to God to be made captains of His entrustment. Whatever potential you believe to have in you as a leader, be first faithful to the one who has appointed you. ( Hebrews 3:2)
Leaders of today’s age, devise their own paths leading humanity into attrocity. They devise their own ways only to have the loyalty of men, rather than to be found faithful of God. One who is faithful in all of God’s house, does not need to exert control over a people he is called to, for His deeds announces him to his generation and the response is that hear ye him anointing that draws men. As Jesus said when I am lifted, I will draw all men (John 12:32) . Many are busy with everything else but their submission to God. Where our tendencies to be faithful to men, to seek their allegiance and attention, have outgrown our faithfulness to God, may the Lord show us mercy.
