Background
Ecclesiastes 12:1
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them
Job 29:4
As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle
In this time and age, many seek to tailor activities in line with the ‘needs’ of the young ones. One thing we find ourselves doing is that we tend to observe the energy they embody, and draw up plans to channel that energy into hyperactivities rather than understanding what is on the heart of the Father concerning the young. What does the Father require from us? Let’s dive into the Word…
As we begin this study, the first the Lord dawned on my heart with regard to the topic, is to teach young fellows to find the heart of the Father. Know our God early and seek Him while He may be yet be found (Isaiah 55:6). We organize activities with the intention of keeping young ones in church, and we search out topics thinking of where their interests lie. But in the end, the result promotes youthful exuberance, if we are not careful we will grow to wonder why all that energy was not made useful to the Lord. In our first scripture of study, the highlight of the verse is to remember now our Creator, the writer foresaw what we observe in our day, perverted teachings, perverted education systems, perverted speech, and perverted media. All systems are set up to bring confusion and rid us of all things pure and all things God. We have become just like the generation of the Israelites who forgot the ways of God.
Beloved this is the time to build intimacy with God, this is the time to know the secret place. As the Psalmist said this is the generation of them that seek Him, that seek the face of the Lord (Psalm 24:6). The Psalmist further puts concisely the deeds of the Israelites in Psalm 78, and how to remedy their errors from the generation to come. We ought to incline our ears to the Word of the Father and be in start to show them to generations to come that they may know them and even they that are yet to be born. In order that they will set their hope in God, a generation that will set their hearts right and whose Spirit will be steadfast with God. From young David, we learn how in his youth he set his heart to seek the Lord, the words he wrote as a Psalmist shows how dedicated he was to knowing the revelations of God, just as Job implores in our second scripture. The Lord seeks for you to know His heart and for Him to be the keeper of yours. Just as the rich young ruler (Mathew 19:21), we must give all to find Him. This will then be our gain, when we have found Him.
