The leadings of God-the point of trust

Nothing beats the presence of God with a man. From the promise of God to Joshua, confirmed aforehand by Moses. The evidence that God can be trusted was seen through his walk with Moses, hence he was the right man to assure Joshua of the very same confidence. How does God lead by trust? Let’s dive into the Word…

When Moses was sent to Pharoah, His question to God was “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?(Exodus 3:10-11). The Lord did not dispute Moses’ inability but gave Him an assurance,” I will be with you” said the Lord(verse 12). When God brings us into the economy of trust, He begins to lead us with instructions that surpass our human understanding. In Exodus 3, where Moses encountered God, and was given the mandate to bring the people of Israel from captivity, the Lord gives His Word concerning His very own hand being stretched to guide Moses. However, in chapter 4, Moses doubts that He will be heard since there was no evidence God had sent him. The Lord then gave Moses an instruction to throw down the stuff in his hand, Moses definitely had no clue of what would happen. But through his obedience, there was a miracle. Now the bible describes that Moses was afraid as the staff was turned into a serpent, but again by God’s instruction to pick it up by the tail, it returned to its original state.

Beloved when God leads us to the point of trust, it is a place to act out of faith and not walk by sight. This is an economy where we learn who God is, and how we can entrust that His plans are to prosper us and to bring us to a good end. To walk by faith and not by sight, is to see past circumstances of impossibility to a place where all but one thing is sure: God with us. Moses encouraging Joshua in our scripture of study is evidence of a man who had learned the ways of God simply by heeding instruction. The place of trust can only be encountered when one has learned to trust God, rather than their own abilities. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path (Proverbs 3:5-6). Now trust does not imply not asking questions, but asking the right ones. Moses’ plight in chapter 4 was that the people would not believe him, expressing the hurdle he would face with the people of Israel. The Lord then shows this mortal man signs and wonders, not mere ones, but signs and wonders performed in His name. So trust is made manifest by the dwelling and abounding presence of God upon a man, followed by His ways being manifest by His instructions being adhered to.

The psalmist said, for by You I can run against a troop, by my God I can leap over a wall (Psalm 18:29). The point of trust is a place of partnership with God. Many waver in their journey with God due to the fact that they have refused to consistently dwell in His presence which is already a sign of man refusing to partner with God. A partnership with God is first a daily fellowship before it leads to a man who can execute God’s plan. How God leads us into His perpetual plan is from one instruction to the other. The instruction remains sealed so long fellowship is broken. When fellowship is a lifestyle, obedience becomes easy and faith unwavering.
