Background
Habakkuk 2:13-14 Behold, is it of the Lord of hosts that the people shall labor in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity? For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea
Isaiah 11: 1-5 & 9-10 There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. His delight is in the fear of the Lord, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; But with righteousness, He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist.
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.
Recently as we see the JESUS is going on movement, today’s message resonates with this. Indeed the Prince of Peace is who our world needs right now. From the books of the prophets we read of how the knowledge of the glory of God shall cover the earth as the waters cover the sea, this indeed is proven when the Word became manifest on earth, let’s get into the Word…
Christ the knowledge of the glory of God
The first verse of study today demonstrates how the world is full of people toiling day and night, only for vanity. As the Psalmist said in Psalms 127:2, it is vain to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so He gives His beloved sleep. Many have come to the truth that there is more to life than making a living, paying up bills, an exhausting routine that ends in death. Indeed it is appointed unto men once to die(Hebrews 9:27), however, the phenomenon of toil and death revolves around the curse of the fall of man. Genesis 3:19, by the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken, for you are dust and to dust you shall return. But there came the hope of man, the Lord our salvation from the stem of Jesse as foretold in Isaiah, upon whom The Spirit of the Lord rests, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. These inbuild principles and characters in Jesus our savior are that which rules a nation in the way of the Lord. In John 1:14,the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us,( and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth, Jesus is the Word that was made manifest and He encaptures the glory of the Father, everything the Father is, He is.
The glory manifest on earth
Now when Jesus moved upon the face of the earth, He preached the message of the kingdom, the kingdom of God(Mathew 6:33). In the Lord’s prayer Jesus teaches us the main goal of earth;thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven( Mathew 6:10). Now for the will of God to be fulfilled on earth it will take men who are submitted unto that will. As seen in Isaiah concerning the prophesy of Jesus, besides the principles and characters dwelling in him, in reflection of the Father, the chapter also teaches how Jesus shall reign, in righteousness and faithfulness. Now as Jesus no more walks physically on the surface of the earth, the mandate is man to enforce His will on earth as the mandate from the beginning of time (Genesis 1:26). To regain and carry out this mandate, He reconciled us back to the Father and He has given us His Spirit, the very The Spirit of the Lord, which comes with The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. Herewith, men can rule the earth in the knowledge of God. These however come through faith in Jesus, for the earth to be covered with the knowledge of God it will take men who have the revelation of who Jesus is, many know of Jesus, but have no revelation of Him. In Mathew 16:13-19, Jesus asked his disciples, whom do men say that I the son of man am, they made mention of prophets and people whom they had seen work miracles like He did. But then He asked, whom do you say I am, Simon Peter then said, thou art the Christ the Son of the living God. Flesh and blood did not reveal it unto Peter, but the Father himself, Jesus said.
Revealing the glory
Knowing Jesus is not by flesh, knowing Jesus comes by revelation. Upon this revelation Jesus builds his church as revealed in the verse above , without the revelation of who He is we build on sinking sand, without revelation of who He is the keys of the kingdom cannot be released unto us. Surely without revelation of Him our world is dying, the time has come when the true worshippers worship in Spirit and Truth(John 4:23). Spirit and Truth comes from Him( Ephesians 5:9) , the more we behold him, the more we can be like Him to manifest Him to the nations. Isaiah 11:6-8, encapsulates a metaphor of the reign of the Prince of peace in the hearts of men; “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, The leopard shall lie down with the young goat, The calf and the young lion and the fatling together; And a little child shall lead them. The cow and the bear shall graze; Their young ones shall lie down together; And the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The nursing child shall play by the cobra’s hole, And the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper’s den. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord As the waters cover the sea. OUR WORLD NEEDS JESUS, the knowlegde of the glory of the Lord.
