And the king and Jehoiada gave it to such as did the work of the service of the house of the LORD, and hired masons and carpenters to repair the house of the LORD, and also such as wrought iron and brass to mend the house of the LORD. So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it.”
2 Chronicles 24:12-13 KJV
“Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.”
2 Timothy 2:3, 5 KJV
Whenever a workman is mentioned in the bible, he is always acquainted with diligence, expertise, careful articulation, and execution of the given task. As believers so must our mindset concerning every kingdom agenda, we must operate with a degree of discipline and diligence while setting our relationship with God as a priority. As we begin this study, may the Lord grant you grace for excellence, let’s dive into the Word.
One of the dealings of God with me through my journey is the importance of discipline. Many believers like myself, are entwined in the things of the Spirit but we lack order and discipline in walking with the Spirit. Before we begin, I want you to be honest to answer this; are you a mere workman or a son? We are called to be sons and sent forth as workmen. Our Lord Jesus once said unto his disciples in Mathew 10:10, that a workman deserves his wages, many of us are functioning just as workmen running a transaction with God. We put in every muscle only to seek a reward for all we do in the kingdom. Yes God rewards diligence, He seeks for us to see him as a father. However, as sons, we are to exhibit prudence, which leads to results. So while the two terms can functionally be distinguished, it should be a correlation to establish and build a true kingdom man or woman.
From the first scripture of study, the workmen who sought to repair the house of the Lord were highly skilled, they had perfected their craft enough to be recognized for the job. This establishes the level of discipline and excellence we are to exercise in our walk with God. The challenge we face in the body is a lack of this quality, leading to much disorder and reproach in the body. Whatever God commits into our hands he grants the divine enablement in the form of grace, but we are to work and make grace fruitful. In Mathew 10:16, Jesus said I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, be wise therefore as serpents and harmless as doves. We read this verse as a form of attack, but today this is the perspective we need to perceive. Being sent forth, we ought to deal in wisdom, responsibility, and capability which sets us apart from our persecutors. There is a great cloud of witnesses and accusors looking and observing, waiting to point out our flaws and inadequacies. If we then do these things as Timothy is commended in our second scripture of study then we shall overcome.
Also seen in our second scripture, is this; we must strive lawfully. That means there are laws of engagement and principles that are set for rightful and legal excellence. We cannot do things anyhow and expect great results in the kingdom, God is a God of order, and holiness as his nature bears the essence of integrity. Therefore the people called by his name are to uphold a likewise character. Are you aware of your duty in the body? How are you carrying out that duty? Will your work still carry weight when it goes through fire? In this study we are birthing excellence together, do not be left out and be sure to spread the Word. Good morning Beloved.
