“And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it. (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.) And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth. And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream. My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house. With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”
Numbers 12:2-8 KJV
“For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the Majestic Glory, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,” we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts, knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
2 Peter 1:17-21 ESV
When your source is doubted, what is proof that you are doing the bidding of God? Beloved when God approves one, he approves before all. The legitimacy of the speakings of God is Spirit-borne but physically witnessed, doubts may spring up by those around us at times. But how do you hold on to the convictions of your encounter and the Word of God, that has come to you? Let’s dive into the Word…
The evidence we see from the life of Moses, which testifies and affirms his calling is the character of meekness. A man’s heart is the very mirror that reflects his place in fulfilling God’s bidding. This was to the extent that when Aaron and Miriam began to speak ill of him saying has the Lord only spoken by Moses, God came to his defense. If you are haughty to defend yourself before men, you are giving the flesh the autonomy to rule over you. Beloved to make your calling sure is to build on character accordingly as the Lord can use, a meek and gentle spirit that only seeks to please God. Your witness, your relevance, your unveiling will be announced by Abba himself at the right time. The fact that you heard the voice of God, is evidenced by your obedience and character. The Lord made known unto Aaron and Miriam, that Moses’ faithfulness brought him into the economy where he can see God face to face. Your encounter with God once does not fulfill the requirement of your call, but your constant communion with Him, to behold Him in the secret place and be transformed is the evidence of His hand upon you.
When Saul befell the Word of God, the resultant effect was rejection, and his disobedience was likened unto rebellion as the sin of divination, and his presumption as iniquity and idolatry (1 Samuel 15:23 ESV). In our response to obey God, it takes grace and precision. You cannot assume what God has not said, you cannot think for God and do what you think will please him. The defense of Saul was that he feared the people and obeyed their voice. Beloved of God, if God is the one who announces and brings your relevance, why should you strive to please men? The bible says let your light shine that men may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven(Mathew 5:16). Make your calling sure hence by yielding to obedience, building character and meekness by which one can behold and contain God in his vessel. (2Peter 1:5–10).
The disciples bore witness of the Sure Word of God. When contention arises, what also affirms the legitimacy of that encounter is the sure Word of God. The Word shines as a light in the darkness, whatsoever trial you may face, it is the Word that keeps the peace in your heart. In the place of prayer regards to every project the Lord has laid upon our hearts, it is the assurance of His Word that keeps us going. Before you move, receive a Word, before you act, receive His Word. Peter said they bore witness from heaven concerning Jesus, heaven confirmed by Word the calling of Jesus. The prophecy spoken beforehand was made even more sure as Peter confirms. This comes not from the will of man, nor the interpretation of man, but spoken of by men who carried the very Spirit of God, hence how mentors should be vetted. The Word of God is as scrolls and seals written aforetime, that is why the bible says, in the beginning, was the Word and the Word was with God. This ancient sacred Word is what runs and rules the affairs of men. Hence receiving the Word brings a conviction that can withstand the storms of life and every attempt to derail that which the Lord beckons.
