Intimacy with God has priority over an assignment

Background

“And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee. And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. And all the city was gathered together at the door. And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1:22, 27-28, 32-35, 37‬ ‭KJV‬‬.

Learning from our pattern man himself, amidst all He had to do on earth one aspect He never downplayed was his fellowship with the Father. As read above, Jesus’ fame had spread all around, Jesus would be found in the synagogue teaching, healing the sick casting out demons, as people gathered in masses with each their affliction, even an entire city would come to Him. You can imagine even in our world today, how flooded churches of great men of God can be in comparison with this context, yet Jesus arose early in the morning before the day into a solitary place and there He prays. Let’s get into the word…

Purpose predestined

As human as we are, it is easy to derail from our faith due to our pursuit in life generally. Many go after careers, personal goals, and many things we consider a priority. However, as people of God, the goal is not to be doing many things but to do the right thing, our purpose in God. Mind you that your purpose in God is not solely what you do in church, it is your God-given assignment set afore time to serve nations, generations upon generations. Jeremiah 1:5 before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee and before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations. As God spoke of His purpose for Jeremiah, so is it towards us who believe in Him and have accepted His Lordship over our lives. “In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.” Ephesians‬ ‭1:11-12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. Our assignment is our God-ordained predestined purpose hidden in God, released through our faith in Christ for His glory.

Fellowship powers strength

Now Jesus’ life is an example of the preordained destiny, as many prophecies forewent His coming, Jesus also in many of His conversations with the Pharisees and some who came to Him, revealed His assignment in the form of parables that they never understood. As an example in ‭‭John‬ ‭2:18-21 “So the Jews answered and said to Him, “What sign do You show to us since You do these things?” Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” But He was speaking of the temple of His body. Jesus in fulfilling His purpose on earth understood the source that powered His assignment and destiny, but most of all the strengthening of His inner man and character. Jesus through His fellowship with the father had an inbuild discipline and character of endurance, which we see in ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭26:36-39: “Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.” He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” At this point though He was in an emotionally deterred state, He held on to His assignment by resorting to prayer, He received strength to yet still stick to God’s plan, ” yet not as I will, but as you will.

In ‭‭Luke‬ ‭5:16-17, again Jesus withdrew himself into the wilderness and prayed. And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judæa, and Jerusalem: the bible teaches that the power of the Lord was present to heal them. This power was available due to Jesus’ consistent fellowship with the Father, Jesus also knew an answer to give whenever the Pharisees would gather to question Him. Wisdom is also a product of fellowship in the Secret Place. Jesus’ assignment never got Him off the rail in pursuit of communing with the Father, one thing He demonstrates to us is that our purpose hidden in God is activated when we stay hooked unto God, not out of ambition but love and desire to see His will fulfilled(“In this, the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.”
I John‬ ‭4:9‬ ‭). Love is also the cause for the preordained life God has for us, as seen in the famous verse of John 3:16, also affirmed in Romans 5:8.

This also shows that your relationship with God is of high value to Him, as is the purpose of salvation, the revealing of your assignment comes as a result.
