Confronting Modern Day Idolatry-Unconquered lusts

“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭22‬-‭25‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭20‬-‭21‬ ‭KJV‬‬

How are you serving the creature more the than the Creator? We profess that we are born of God yet the adaptation of worldly cultures still abide in us in many forms. Believers today try to create so called “Christian versions” of circular array, to give an impression of false excitement disguised for the things of God. This is as a result of unconquered lusts.

Idolatry finding its dwelling amongst believers, is not merely the willing and conscious pursuit of other things than God. But also the tendency to recreate in a different form the things we formerly served, in a false godlike form we proclaim. By so doing we become indifferent to the things of this world and subconsciously appraise the things we ought to be rebuking. If truly we serve the one true God, our inspiration should stem from him . Creation attests to the creativity of our God. His dynamic and multidimensionality has not been explored because we still find pleasure in the old man.

Truly our minds are not or have not been renewed while we are yet fulfilling in modern ways the lusts of the flesh. Gluttony, has been veiled in new terms and trends, whereby we flaunt ourselves just as the circular world. Notwithstanding that the believer can enjoy the blessings of God, but we should be inclined to our newness in God and represent Him in all we do.

But ye have not so learned Christ; if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” (Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬-‭24‬ ‭KJV‬‬)
‭‭

Hence the question we should pose to ourselves in all our dealings, is this ; is God glorified ? The promptings of the Spirit of God in us has been diminished as we have not conquered the dictates of our human spirit and lusts. We continue to live by our senses because we discern yet still by our carnal mind what is good rather than discern the will of God with a renewed mind(Romans 12:2). To properly discern we must be sure of this, friendship with the world is enmity with God. Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God
‭‭(James‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). Also that the Scripture does not say in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?”
‭‭James‬ ‭4‬:‭5‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

God will not share His glory with graven images, choose this day whom you will serve. Good morning Beloved.
