Background
“and every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground. But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.”
Genesis 2:5-6 KJV
-Until a man is able to till the land for its harvest, the rains will be ceased. Beloved rain is a symbol of abundance and a time of harvest (Zechariah 10:1 & Joel 2:23-24KJV). Whenever there was a drought, it was accompanied by famine. However as we observe in our study today, the rains will come when one is in a position to cultivate and see the productivity of what the Lord has given. The abundance of rain only awaits men in a position to act.
-Until there was a man to till the ground, creation remained in travail without manifestation. Everything created had no relevance until man existed. “And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field and every fowl of the air, and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof” (Genesis 2:19 KJV ). Adam named everything the Lord had created, and each adhered to the given name based on its nature. You see, Adam as the steward of the garden took authority in calling forth everything by name thus enhancing its function and duty in creation. This is another dimension of exercising dominance, the power of our words, in calling forth what God has put in place for our good.
-Until man was created God could only move through elements and not a body. “But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground”(Genesis 2:6 KJV). One thing to note here is that there is a difference between rain and mist. Although both consist of the element water, mist stays suspended in the air while rain pours down. Just as the Holy Spirit many times is described as a Wind, many encounters of God with men were demonstrated in the form of elements (Exodus 19:16-18). Hence the need for God to create a body through which the earth could experience His impact and His multifaceted being. This also demonstrates the desire of God to make His dwelling in our vessel. As seen in Hebrews 10:5-7 “Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, But a body hast thou prepared me: In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come (In the volume of the book it is written of me,) To do thy will, O God.” KJV
