Background
“For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”
1 Corinthians 2:16 KJV
The renewed mind is one that can be traced back to its origin. Not just any but that of its author and creator. When we trace back the mindset, the character, and the actions of the believer, the traits of the Father are to be found. The intent of the renewed mind is to bear the mind of Christ. What does this mean? Let’s dive into the Word…
In the first scripture of study, verse 10 of the chapter reveals the workings of the Holy Spirit in the believer. Paul explains here that God has revealed everything by His Spirit, for it is He who searches all things including the very deep things of God. The same Spirit, Paul elaborates that the believer has received in order to know the things freely given by God. He also substantiates the wisdom that the Holy Spirit teaches and makes a profound statement at the end, ” but we have the mind of Christ.
Having the mind of Christ in definition is a mind restored unto the divine plan. The origin of this plan is seen in Genesis 1:26, “let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion…”. Now this divine plan being disrupted by the introduction of a corrupted and perverted wisdom, God through the sacrifice of Christ, brings a reformation plan. Seen in the same chapter ( 1 Corinthians 2), Paul declares that the carnal man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God nor can he know them. So then the Believer through faith in Jesus embodies the very Spirit of God enabling the transformation from carnality to spirituality. Accordingly in John 15:15, Jesus speaks to His disciples that what He receives from the Father he makes known to them. In conjunction with verse 25 He speaks of the Helper. “But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me”(John 15:26 ESV). The Holy Spirit now takes control in helping us know the Father more by bearing witness.
The Bible further reveals that the first Adam was a living being, but the last Adam became a life-giving spirit (1 Corinthians 15: 45). Meditating upon this two wording, a living being and a life-giving spirit, you realize the latter showcases more essence. This, in the sense that being borne in the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man(1 Corinthians 15:47-49). So then restoring the mind unto the divine plan takes restoration back to the very image that was first made.
Now, after being restored, and taking on this image, what shows one bears the mind of this image? We continue the study same time tomorrow. God bless you and grant you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation as you engage in His Word.
