“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 KJV
“Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
1 Timothy 4:12 KJV
Talk shows and programs held even in church attempt to teach young ones how to go about dating lives, marriages and etc. However many of these lead to perverse teachings, and the fact is, this is what many churches believe are the interests of the young. Believe it or not, we flock to places holding such events, but what is on the heart of the Father? Let’s dive into the word…
Beloved, God wants to embody your vessel. As Paul teaches in our first scripture of study, your body is God’s very own temple. The Father desires for your vessel to be His sanctuary, He is Holy and desires for us to be Holy. The issue of Holiness does not cancel out the challenges of young adults and teenagers but is the very solution to the urges of the flesh. Young man, young lady, many young men in the bible, faced the exact same tendencies we have, but one thing they held fast to was their desire to please God and fulfill God’s will. Joseph fled the attempts of Potiphar’s wife(Genesis 39), to secure his destiny. His call was greater than any moment of pleasure which will drive him out of God’s presence. Child of God, one thing about immorality in this age is that it can be found everywhere and can be triggered from every source. We try to convince ourselves as young people that the media does not influence our thoughts. The truth is subconsciously, we have subscribed to the patterns of immorality and automatically walk in them. In order to walk in Holiness, our entire thought pattern should be subscribed to this; whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”(Philippians 4:8 KJV ). Do not underestimate the prince of the power of the air, for as the Bible teaches, it is the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience(Ephesians 2:2-3 KJV). If we continue in disobedience, there is no denying that this Spirit remains at work in us, because we are still bound and enticed by its influence.
The second is this, we hear very often let no one despise your youth, this has been a motive used to hype young people up to become vigorous, marked by complacency. But we ignore what follows up in the verse, “but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity. As young as we are, we can be an exemplary models of good morals, vessels equipped, for the Father’s use. It is good for a young man or woman to bear the yoke in his youth(Lamentations 3:27), the call of God in the lives of men we read of in the bible started at a young age. Samuel was dedicated from birth unto God, the walk of purity and consecration started right from there. While the sons of Eli walked carelessly, Samuel walking in holiness was called and the judgment of God upon the sons of Eli was revealed unto Him( I Samuel 3). Dear young man, and young woman, the call of God starts with purity, purity begins as young as you are. The child Jesus, grew and waxed strong, because He dwelt and walked in purity, young Timothy being advised by Paul, was told “and that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus(2 Timothy 3:15 KJV). As David the Psalmist also asked, “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed thereto according to thy word(Psalm 119:9 KJV). Without purity, no man can see God. Without purity, the seal of your destiny remains closed.
